Hello…
I confess, writing this statement didn’t come easily… Here we go!
Why do I love photography…
Why do I set the alarm for getting up at 4a.m., fighting my inner voice that’s telling me to turn over and get a couple more hours sleep, as conditions aren’t quite right?!
I simply love…. solitude, immersing myself in nature and keeping it real! Whether that’s…
Being amongst the trees in an ancient woodland as the day starts. Surrounded by the sounds of the birds and scents of nature, watching the mist as it ebbs and flows through the trees. Witnessing dawn break in summer, as the sun slowly moves across a beautiful piece of chalk grassland. Observing an adder making its way through a bramble thicket towards a shaft of sunlight.
Photography, facilitates my connection to nature. It stops me, slows me down, makes me notice. I’ll concentrate so deeply on the subject, that I time travel into the future!
Ever since a young age, I’ve had a passion for photography. I studied the subject at school and would often combine photography with passions like fishing. Then as life took over, photography took a back seat. It wasn’t until my family came along, that I fell back in love with the art, capturing images of our children. I now pursue photography to escape everyday life, particularly the news, be in nature and slow down!
I have a deep passion for the natural world and being outdoors. For me, reconnecting with nature by immersing your senses and taking time to observe the natural world’s rhythm, is essential and revitalising.
This is why I do it.
Commendations & Publications
Over recent years, I’ve entered several competitions and been lucky enough to have some images published. My main reason for entering was curiosity, to see what others thought my work. Photography is a form of art and everyone has their own taste and opinion on the type of imagery they like. I’ll always welcome constructive feedback, but at the end of the day, I photograph what captures my eye, what pleases me. I’ll also process images to my taste, I like to think with minimal editing, keeping the final image true to what I witnessed at the time in the field.
